About the workshop:

As improvisers, we are storytellers, creating entire worlds and stories on the spot. In this workshop, you will explore the tools needed to create captivating improvised plays that keep audiences on the edge of their seats. We will focus on building different worlds and creating characters with clear objectives and emotional stakes that the audience cares about.

The workshop is based on the show format that Push Play Theatre has been performing for the past two years. Using visual art as a starting point, we will discover what kinds of adventures, stories, and worlds a single image can inspire. The art provides the backbone and inspiration for the play, while audience suggestions will throw the improvisers into fun tangents and side adventures they never expected, challenging them to adapt in the moment.

We’ll finish the workshop with a little showcase of our own, turning one artwork into an improvised play.

Tools we’ll work on

  • Building different worlds and realities
  • Creating engaging characters with clear objectives
  • Longform storytelling

About Tamara

Tamara Maasdam is an improviser and teacher from the Netherlands and Sweden, driven by and endless curiosity and endless desire to explore and learn new things. For her, improv is at its best when drama and comedy meet – when a performance can make her both laugh one moment and move you deeply the next.

As a coach, Tamara brings heart, energy, laughter, and a genuine sense of curiosity to the classroom. Her workshops blend playfulness and silliness with thoughtful, constructive feedback, creating a space where both the group as well as the individual can grow.

Tamara has performed and taught with Stockholms Improvisationsteater and International Theater Stockholm. In 2024, she founded her own theatre, Push Play Theatre, where she works as a creative director, organiser and improviser. She is also an active member of several independent ensembles, performing across Sweden and on stages throughout Europe.

The workshop is on May 23 and comes with a free ticket to one of our shows. Below you can sign up for the workshop and pick what show you want to go to:
